Frua Bodied Jaguar E-type
Vehicle history
Frua Jaguar
Pietro Frua was one of Italy's leading auto designers, creating
prototypes and production vehicles for companies such as Fiat,
Maserati and Glas. When John Coombs, a Jaguar dealer and racehorse
owner, approached Frua to make a unique car, the E-Type was an
obvious choice.
The nose was shortened by ten inches and given a treatment similar
to the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider. Accommodating the new front end
was a scoop replacing the bulge normally found on the hood.
This one off Frua bodied e-type came to us for a bare metal
restoration, as seen in the photos (below) the original paint suffered
from intense crazing throughout, the body and engine framework
were sandblasted back to is original metal, mechanical work
entailed removal of engine and all components, overhaul of the
carburettors, fitment of a racing clutch and flywheel along with
some fine detailing.
This beautiful Jaguar has already attended hill climbs, rallies
and relevant events since the restoration and was featured in
Octobers "Jaguar World" due to its shear rarity.
Below are a various images of the car before, during and after restoration. |
